Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 20 October 2026
Last Updated: 20 October 2026
This policy applies to the JobCrack ATS Chrome Browser Extension (Chrome Web Store ID gdgongkgaaomjpacbcdecnnighemleaa) and the AutoJobStack web platform operated by AutoJobStack ("we", "our", or "us"). It describes what data the extension processes, where it is stored, and which optional features send data off your device.
1. What the extension does
JobCrack ATS compares the resume you upload with the job posting you are viewing. It reports which requirements your resume evidences and which are missing, highlights matched and missing requirements on the page, and can fill empty contact fields on application forms for you to review before submitting. Matching is a coverage estimate over the requirements the extension recognises; it is not a prediction of any employer's decision.
2. Data we process
- Resume (contains personal data): When you upload a PDF, DOCX or TXT file it is parsed inside your browser. The extracted text, the detected sections and the parser version are stored in
chrome.storage.local on your device. The file itself is not uploaded to us.
- Autofill profile: If you enter it, we store the name, email, phone, city, LinkedIn URL, GitHub URL, portfolio URL and current employer used to fill application forms. It is stored locally and written into form fields only when you press Auto-Fill.
- Job posting content: The extension reads the job title, company, location and description text of the page you have open in order to score your resume against it. This text stays in your browser and is kept with your local analysis history so the panel can reopen the last result.
- Analysis history: Your last 50 analyses (score, matched and missing skills, job URL and title) are stored locally so you can revisit them. You can clear them at any time from the extension.
- Settings: Your preferences and, if you add one, your own AI provider API key are stored locally in
chrome.storage.local.
3. What we do not collect
We do not collect, store or transmit your browsing history, visited sites or search queries. We do not collect financial or payment information, health information, personal communications, or advertising identifiers, and the extension contains no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
4. Optional features that send data off your device
These are off unless you switch them on or use them:
- AI rewrite (optional): If you add your own API key for Google Gemini, OpenAI or DeepSeek and use the rewrite action, your resume text and an excerpt of the job description (up to about 15,000 and 8,000 characters) are sent to that provider to generate suggested wording. The request goes directly from your browser to the provider using your key; we do not receive it. That provider's own privacy terms apply. No AI feature runs without a key you supplied.
- Anonymous score feedback: When you press the thumbs-up/down buttons or the check/cross buttons on a skill chip, we send a randomly generated device identifier, the scan identifier, your rating or correction, and the skill name with your verdict. No resume text, job text, name, email or file is included. It is used only to measure and improve scoring accuracy, and you can avoid it by not using the feedback buttons.
- Clip to Board (optional): If you configure your own Supabase project in the options page, the job you clip (title, company, location, URL, description) is written to that project. We do not operate that database; it is yours.
- Skill-alias sync: The panel may fetch a public list of skill synonyms from
www.autojobstack.com. The request contains no personal data and no page content.
5. Non-sale of user data
- We do NOT sell, rent, trade or monetise user data to any third parties, data brokers or advertising networks.
- We do NOT use user data for targeted advertising, retargeting, profiling or credit scoring.
- We do NOT transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's stated single purpose.
6. Storage, retention and deletion
- Local data stays on your device until you delete it. Use the extension's history controls to clear analyses, or remove the extension to purge all of its local storage.
- Optional network calls are made over TLS/HTTPS. We do not operate a server that stores your resume or autofill profile.
- Feedback records contain no resume or job content and are retained for up to 24 months for accuracy measurement.
7. Permissions and why each is needed
- storage — keep your resume text, profile, history and settings on your device.
- sidePanel — show the analysis panel next to the job page.
- scripting — inject the extraction and autofill handler when the panel is opened on a page where the content script is not yet running.
- tabs / activeTab — identify the job page you are viewing and keep the panel in sync with it.
- Host permissions — read the job description and fill form fields on the career portals and ATS platforms you visit.
8. Children
The extension and platform are not directed to children under 13 and do not knowingly process their data.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above is updated and the new text is published on this page before the change takes effect.
